For Organizations: Assessment Fees

MN Quality Award evaluation fees are based on the size and complexity of organization.  Base fees are as follows:

MN Quality Award Assessment
    Members Non-Members
Base fee*

  Small Organizations (1 site and/or 1-999 employees) $ 7,500.00 $ 10,000.00
  Medium Organizations (2-3 sites and/or 1000-9999 emplys) $ 10,000.00 $ 13,000.00
  Large Organizations (4+ sites and/or 10,000+ employees)) $ 14,000.00 $ 18,000.00

Call the Council for a discussion regarding your organization’s fees.  Discounts are available for non-profit organizations and small businesses.  Fees cover all costs associated with our assessment process, including the Evaluator team’s Independent Review, Consensus, Site Visit, Feedback Report preparation, Improvement Planning Session, and judging for the Minnesota Quality Award.  For organizations with out-of-state travel requirements, with significant in-state travel requirements, and/or with significantly more than four sites, the fees may be increased to cover additional site visit costs.  The fee also includes training fees for Evaluator(s) to an upcoming Board of Evaluators training session (rebates are available for Evaluators that serve in the current MN Quality Award application cycle; see below for more information).

Alternative Assessment
    Members Non-Members
Base fee
  Consultant facilitation $ 10,000.00 $ 14,000.00
  Consultant facilitation plus industry team $ 14,000.00 $ 18,000.00

Fees are similar to the Award process fees, though are a bit higher in some instances since the Council relies on sub-contractor experts.  However, the organizations’ time may be greatly reduced because this process uses more consultant-led facilitated leadership sessions and therefore requires less organizational time for which to prepare.  Fees cover all phases of the Alternative Assessment, and also includes training fees for Evaluator(s) to an upcoming Board of Evaluators training session.

*The fees above also includes training fees for Evaluator(s) to an upcoming Board of Evaluators training session.  Because having internal knowledge of the Baldrige framework is critical to advancing excellence within your organization, the Minnesota Council for Quality requires applicant organizations to provide volunteer Evaluators to serve in the current MN Quality Award application cycle (or to make arrangements to serve in the next cycle).  Requirements are as follows:

  • 1+ Evaluators for organizations 1-499 employees
  • 2+ Evaluators for organizations 500-999 employees
  • 3+ Evaluators for organizations 1000-4999 employees
  • 4+ Evaluators for organizations 5000-9999 employees
  • 5+ Evaluators for organizations 10,000+ employees

Evaluators can be any staff member within the organization, but are typically senior leaders, quality/improvement professionals, and/or other functional leaders.  We seek a variety of expertise on our Board of Evaluators – those representing different sectors (manufacturing, service, non-profit, healthcare, education, and government), those possessing different functional expertise (quality, finance/accounting, human resources, operations, IT, etc.), and those at different levels of leadership.

The base fees above include Evaluator training fees as follows:

  • Small organizations: base fee includes training fees for 1-2 Evaluators (additional Evaluators over 2 are $500/each or $750/non-member).
  • Medium organizations: base fee includes 1-3 Evaluators training fee (additional Evaluators over 3 are $500/each or $750/non-member).
  • Large organizations: base fee includes 1-4 Evaluators training fee (additional Evaluators over 4 are $500/each or $750/non-member).

Upon successful completion of training and successful completion of service on a MN Quality Award evaluation team, the organization can receive an optional rebate of their evaluation fees above, according to how many Evaluators serve:

  • $500 rebate for those with 1 participating Evaluator
  • $1000 rebate for those with 2 participating Evaluators
  • $1500 rebate for those with 3 participating Evaluators
  • $2000 rebate for those with 4+ participating Evaluators

Organizations can elect to apply those discounts to future evaluations, apply them for additional Evaluators’ training fees, accept a cash rebate, or donate the rebate to the MN Council for Quality as an additional contribution.

If selecting Baldrige Express (survey-based evaluation), the fees above are for the first 100 web-based surveys.  Additional surveys are $25/survey for each survey over 100 ($40/survey for non-members).  And an additional processing charge of $10/survey ($25/survey for non-members) applies for paper version surveys instead of web.
