Sylvia is CEO of Rolfs
& Associates, Inc, which provides services in quality and process
improvement to varied organizations. In this capacity, she has had
the opportunity to work with a number of organizations, both large
and small. Some of her clients have included Rochester Community
and Technical College and Medtronic. At RCTC, she created a curriculum
on quality assurance for incumbent work force training for area
businesses. She also developed and taught Math and Measurement Classes
to manufacturing employees working in area businesses. At Medtronic,
she worked with one of the software development areas to review
the processes used and recommend changes to ensure that their actual
practices matched their documented processes. She also did numerous
project audits for software development.
Sylvia
is also a lead evaluator with the Minnesota Council for Quality
and has worked with numerous organizations with them since 1997.
She serves on the Board of Directors of Rochester Area Quality Council
and is a member of the Board of Good News Children’s Center, a small
non-profit day care center. Prior to forming her own company in
1994, she spent over 25 years with IBM Rochester in a variety of
positions including Technical Writing and numerous engineering positions.
Most of her engineering positions involved coordination of diverse
groups (sometimes at multiple location) working on various projects.
She also spent several years involved with software development
processes including owning and managing the change control tools
used by the development community. Sylvia holds a Bachelor of Science
degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University
of Wisconsin
– Madison
and completed an MBA in Management from University
of St. Thomas
in spring 2005.
