Keith
Dixon was appointed Superintendent of the Duluth Public Schools
in March 2005 and took his post July 1, 2005 . He comes to Duluth
from Faribault , MN , where he spent ten years as superintendent
of schools.
He
began his career as a public school teacher and then a counselor
in Fort Collins , Colorado . He was appointed assistant principal,
and then principal for Grand Junction High School , and later became
an executive director for the Poudre school district, a position
he held for ten years.
Among
other community groups, Dr. Dixon served on the Faribault Chamber
of Commerce Board of Directors, and on the South Central Technical
College Advisory Board providing programming for Faribault residents.
He also participated on the Diversity Coalition focused on integrating
multiple cultures into the community. He has presented at conferences
in Atlanta and San Francisco on “Future Designs for the Comprehensive
High School .”
Dr.
Dixon holds a bachelor’s degree in math from Colorado State University
, a masters of education in guidance and counseling, and a Ph.D.
in educational administration. He and his wife, Sarah, have five
children.
