Joyce Helens was appointed president of St. Cloud Technical College in July of 2006, a fully-accredited two-year college, which offers associate degrees, diplomas and certificates that prepare graduates for over 100 career choices. The College serves about 12,000 students each year in both credit and non-credit classes, which advances the college mission of life-long learning.
Before coming to St. Cloud, she served as the Executive Director of the University of Alaska Corporate programs since 1999 where she created a Corporate University within an academic university system to respond to the education and training needs of Alaska business & industry. President Helens was also Associate Dean for Instruction and Dean at the University of Alaska Anchorage; President of Peninsula College in Port Angeles, Washington; Founding Executive Dean of Collin County Community College, McKinney, Texas; and Director of Instruction and Maywood Park Center Campus at Mt. Hood Community College in Gresham, Oregon.
President Helens is the current Minnesota State Champion in the Ladies Frontier Cartridge Duelist category of the Minnesota State Cowboy Action Shooting Championship. Reliving the spirit of the Old West, she was one of more than 225 competitors in Morristown, MN. She and her husband, John Hart also rescue, train and ride horses in their Foley, MN ranch called, “PrairyErth”.
